Whiplash doesn't require an auto accident to happen. It occurs when a force is applied to the human body in which the head is shaken either forwards and backwards or from side to side. This abrupt motion not only misaligns the neck bones, it also severely stretches and sometimes even tears the ligaments that cover both the front and back of the spinal column, as well as the muscles and other connective tissues around the spinal bones. RESULT?? Pain, headaches, decreased range of motion - as well as a LOOOOOOONG wait for those ligaments to heal without help....this can take up to TWO YEARS. Just a few days ago, Sarah came to my office, complaining of a sore neck from riding her new barrel-racing horse, who had gotten spooked and started bucking. Sarah didn't fall off, but her entire upper body was severely shaken back and forth, resulting in whiplash. I examined and adjusted Sarah, relieving the worst of her neck pain. Refer me to your friend or family member recently involved in being "all shook up" whether it's from an auto accident or a fall from a horse or bicycle. They will be thankful for a referral to a doctor who knows how to relieve whiplash, no matter HOW it happens!
