When I gave a presentation in my business networking group last week about herniated discs, I got quite a few interesting questions. I’d like to answer a couple of those today.
Can a disc heal after
being herniated?
The end answer is YES, although the disc will never again be as it was;
the body will eventually absorb and expel the herniated disc “jelly” along with
the swelling and the area will no longer be inflamed and painful. Also, the height of the disc decreases with
the "jelly middle" gone.
What can I
drink or eat to keep my discs healthy? It is most important to make sure to always stay
properly hydrated by drinking plenty of pure water; after age 25, our discs
very slowly lose fluid from the “jelly” inside them; that is why old people are
shorter than when they were younger; they have lost disc height because the
inside of the spinal discs have dehydrated.
Another great way to preserve disc health is to be adjusted regularly. Regular adjustments help the spine to preserve its natural curves and maintain the health of the discs.
Not sure if your spine is healthy? Call me NOW for a "spinal checkup" and any needed adjustments.
