INQUIRING MINDS WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SLEEP

Today, I will answer a few questions from my 7-Minute PowerCore Business Networking presentation of last week.  Can you die from lack of sleep?  It is impossible for humans to avoid sleep for a long period of time.  In humans, the brain will force the body into what is called “microsleeps” where consciousness is lost anywhere from a fraction of a second up to 30 seconds.  However, tests done on lab animals have resulted in death from total sleep deprivation.  What stage of sleep is best to awaken in?  As you look at the sleep cycle diagram I gave out last week, you can see that we cycle from being awake to REM sleep and then into the various stages of NREM sleep, first stage 1, then 2, then 3 and 4, which are the deepest sleeps.  Afterwards, we cycle back up to REM sleep and may even awaken but most likely won’t remember waking up.  Coming awake from REM sleep is the best way to awaken.  I’m a good referral for your brother Sam who is irritable and cranky from lack of sleep; at Blue Ribbon Chiropractic, We’ve Got His Back and can adjust his body to be ready for Dreamland.
